Ask any seamstress at Makola or any phone dealer at Circle where their orders come from and WhatsApp Status comes up before Instagram. A status is seen by the people who have your number saved, which means people who already trust you a little, and in Ghana that trust is worth more than reach. The problem is that most status adverts are written in a hurry: a blurry picture, no price, and ‘DM for details’. Here is how to write one that gets replies, with captions you can copy and change.
What a status advert needs
- One clear picture or a short video, taken in daylight, of the actual item. Not a screenshot from someone else's page.
- The price, written plainly. ‘DM for price’ loses the buyer who was ready to pay and keeps only the ones who want to bargain.
- Where you are and how it reaches them: pickup at Madina, delivery within Accra for GHS 20, nationwide by VIP bus.
- One instruction: ‘Call or WhatsApp 05X XXX XXXX’ or ‘Reply with your size’. One, not three.
- Something that makes it today's post: a new arrival, this week's price, the last three pieces.

Change the prices, places and numbers to yours. These are examples of the shape that works, not quotes.

Mistakes that kill a status advert
- A long paragraph that WhatsApp cuts off, so the price and the number are never seen.
- Five pictures of the same item. One good one, then a video if the finish matters.
- ‘DM for price’. It reads like the price depends on who is asking.
- No location. Buyers in Tamale and buyers in Tema need different answers.
- Posting once and never again. People miss statuses; the second and third posts do most of the selling.
- Typing in capitals. It looks like shouting and is harder to read on a phone.
When to post
Post between 6 pm and 10 pm, when people are home and scrolling, and again around 7 am. A status lasts 24 hours; repost the one that got the most replies the next evening with a small change, such as a new picture or the pieces left.
How to get other people to post your advert
Your own status reaches your contacts. For a launch, a sale, a song or an event you want it on many statuses at once. On TaskCashFlow you pay a fixed price for a fixed number of real people: 20 people post it on their WhatsApp Status for GHS 100, 40 for GHS 200, 100 for GHS 450. Each person messages you on WhatsApp first, posts exactly your picture and caption, keeps it up for the day, and sends a screenshot with the view count as proof. The poster's fee is only released when the proof is approved, and the team checks every advert before it goes out, so the rules above apply to you too: a clear picture, a plain price and one instruction.
